Effective date: 22 September 2026 · Last updated: 22 September 2026
Changes that take effect on 22 October 2026
From 22 October 2026, we will add the following to this policy (posted on 21 September 2026). We already work the first two ways today. The third starts on 22 October 2026.
To the end of “Payment details” in section 1: “We do not record the address in our own database.”
To section 7, after its first paragraph: “We do not put advertising tags, or content embedded from other companies’ sites (such as videos or social media posts), on this website, and our site analytics places no cookies. This is so that no other company can use this website to follow what you do on other websites. For the payment screen, which is Stripe’s own screen, see the next paragraph.”
To “Site usage” in section 1, after its first sentence: “Through the same Vercel Web Analytics, we also count how long each page was on your screen and how much of the page, from the top, was shown on your screen. Both are rounded before they are sent (for example, 47 seconds is sent as 45 seconds).”
Changes that take effect on 2 November 2026
From 2 November 2026, we will add the following to this policy (posted on 17 October 2026). Any notice that reaches us before then is not counted.
To section 1, after “Information for managing licences”, as a new item: “How often the apps are first used: KoeShot for Mac and Yomigaeru for Mac send our server one short notice the first time you open the app on a Mac, and one more the first time you use it after the free trial has ended without a licence being activated. Each is sent once (if you reinstall the app, it may be sent again). The notice says only which app it is and which of the two moments it is. It does not include your licence key, the code that distinguishes your Mac, or anything inside the app. We use it only to count, and we do not record the address it came from (the IP address) in our database.”
Changes that take effect on 11 November 2026
From 11 November 2026, we will add the following to this policy (posted on 26 October 2026). We already work this way today.
To section 1, after “Information for managing licences”, as a new item: “When you choose “Check for Updates”: KoeShot for Mac, Yomigaeru for Mac and Memory Watch for Mac read a small file that states the latest version number from the server that distributes the app (Vercel), only when you choose “Check for Updates” from the menu. Whether a newer version exists is worked out on your Mac. The app sends nothing to us: not your licence key, not the code that distinguishes your Mac, and not even the version you are using. However, because of how the internet works, the address the request comes from (the IP address) and a short label that gives only the name of the app reach that server. We do not record them in our database (Vercel, which runs the server, may keep a record of requests for a limited time to operate it). The apps never check on their own. KoeType for Mac receives the latest version number inside the answer to the licence check described in “Information for managing licences” above, and makes no separate request for it.”
This policy sets out how Wada Digital Lab (sole proprietor: Tomoyuki Wada; “we”, “us”, “our”) handles your personal information in the apps and on the website we provide (the “Service”).
1. What we collect
What you type in or give us: your email address, your name, and the content of any enquiry.
The email address you enter before ordering: when you move from a product page to the order screen, we ask for your email address. We use it only to check that you do not already have the same contract, and to fill it in on the payment screen (Stripe) that follows. We record it in our database only if a contract is formed.
Payment details: card numbers and the like are collected and processed directly by our payment provider Stripe (Stripe, Inc. / Stripe Payments Japan K.K.). We never hold your card number. If a contract is formed, we receive from Stripe the buyer’s email address, name, purchase history and billing status. Stripe may also ask for your billing address — it always does when you order from outside Japan — and we receive it from Stripe. We use the country in it to check that the order comes from one of our sales regions.
Information for managing licences: to check whether your contract is valid, the app sends your licence key and a code that distinguishes your Mac to our server. That code is produced from device information by a one-way calculation, so it cannot be turned back into you or your Mac. So that you can see how many Macs you are using, we also receive the model name of the Mac (for example “Mac16,13”). The name you gave your Mac (“Alex’s MacBook Pro” and the like) is not sent.
Site usage: our host, Vercel, collects how this website is used (which pages are opened, where visitors came from, a rough region, the kind of browser) through Vercel Web Analytics. This uses no cookies and does not identify who you are. To tell visits apart, Vercel makes a code from each request. The code is made again every day, so it cannot follow a visitor from one day to the next, or onto other websites. Before anything is sent, we remove from the page address everything except the marks that show where a visitor came from.
What you type into the AI chat on this website: questions you type into “Ask about the apps” at the bottom-right of a product page are sent to the servers of Anthropic, PBC (United States), the company that provides the AI, so that an answer can be written. We keep the text of the question and the answer in our database for 90 days, to improve our product pages and FAQs and to check that the AI is not giving wrong answers, and then delete it. We do not record your IP address itself. To count how many questions come from the same person within an hour, we store a code made by a one-way calculation from the day’s date and the IP address. The code changes when the date changes, so it cannot follow you from one day to the next. Please do not type your name, email address, postal address or other personal information into the chat. If you do, we use it only for the purposes above.
2. What we use it for
To provide the products (apps and licences), to tell you how to download them, and to issue, verify and count licences
To take payment and to manage subscription charges, renewals and cancellations
To check that an order comes from one of our sales regions
To stop the same person signing up twice and paying twice
To answer enquiries, provide support and handle refunds
To send you important notices (faults, updates, changes to the Terms, price changes)
To improve the quality of the Service and to prevent misuse
We do not send marketing or advertising newsletters.
3. Sharing and processors
We do not give your personal information to a third party without your prior consent, except where the law requires it. We do, however, use the following outside services to run the Service.
Stripe
To process payments, charges and refunds, and to provide the subscription-management page
Vercel
To host the website and the server functions, and for site analytics
Supabase
For the database that stores licence information (stored in the Tokyo region)
Resend
To send emails such as licence keys
Anthropic
To write the answers in the AI chat on this website (we send the text of your question; under our agreement with Anthropic, it does not use that text to train its AI)
These companies have sites outside Japan, and your information may be handled outside Japan.
4. Keeping information safe
We take the steps needed to keep the personal information we hold from being leaked, lost or damaged. All communication is encrypted, and access to the database is limited to us and to the processing that needs it.
5. How long we keep it
We keep licence and transaction information for a period after your contract ends, because we need it to manage contracts and because the law requires records to be kept. We delete information properly once it is no longer needed. Questions and answers from the AI chat on this website are kept for 90 days and then deleted.
6. Asking to see, correct, stop the use of, or delete your information
You can ask us to show you, correct, add to, delete, or stop using the personal information we hold about you. Please write to the contact below. We will check that it is you and then act without delay, as the law requires.
7. Cookies and similar
This website uses no cookies for advertising or behavioural tracking. Our site analytics (Vercel Web Analytics) is a method that uses no cookies either.
The payment screen, however, is provided by Stripe, and Stripe may use cookies and similar to prevent misuse and to keep payments working. Please see Stripe’s privacy policy for details.
8. Changes to this policy
We may change this policy when we need to. If we make an important change, we will publish the new text and the date it takes effect on this website at least 15 days before that date (and we will also try to tell you by email at the address you registered). If your contract with us began before the revision of the Terms of Service of 22 September 2026, the Supplementary Provisions at the end of the Terms of Service say when this applies to you.
9. If you live outside Japan
We sell KoeShot for Mac to people in Japan and also in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Hong Kong (Terms of Service, Article 4).
9-1. Your information leaving your country
We run the Service from Japan. If you order from outside Japan, your information is handled in Japan, and by the processors listed in section 3, which are in Japan and in the United States. This is our summary of how it is protected once it leaves your country:
Japan has a general personal information protection law — the Act on the Protection of Personal Information — and we are bound by it for everything we do with your information, wherever you live.
Each processor in section 3 is used under the data protection terms that it publishes, and those terms apply to what we pass to it.
We use each processor only for the purposes in section 2, and we pass each of them no more than the Service needs.
Licence information is stored in the Tokyo region, in Japan (section 3).
We do not give your personal information to anyone else without your prior consent, except where the law requires it (section 3).
The rights that the law of the country or region where you live gives you are not limited by this policy. If you would like to know more about this before you order, please write to the address in section 10 and we will answer.
9-2. The person responsible for your personal information (Singapore, Canada and New Zealand)
One person is responsible for how we handle personal information, and for answering questions and complaints about it:
Name and title: Tomoyuki Wada, Privacy Officer, Wada Digital Lab
Address: RJ3, 2-16-12 Jiyugaoka, Meguro-ku, Tokyo 152-0035, Japan

Under New Zealand’s Privacy Act 2020, this person is our privacy officer.
You can write to this person to ask about your personal information, to make a request under section 6 above, or to make a complaint.
